Our author guidelines provide comprehensive instructions and requirements for preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication in our journal. They cover submission procedures, manuscript formatting, authorship criteria, ethical considerations, and other essential aspects to ensure a smooth and transparent publication process.

Author Guidelines: Emirates Journal of Internal Medicine

Before commencing your submission to the Emirates Journal of Internal Medicine (EJIM), please carefully review and confirm that your manuscript complies with the following requirements:

Manuscript Format:

    • The manuscript is prepared in English, demonstrating a high standard of clarity and accuracy.
    • Formatting adheres to the guidelines outlined in the “Author Guidelines” section, with consistent use of fonts, spacing, and margins.
    • The document is double-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides, utilizing IBM Plex Sans font (size 09).

Manuscript Sections:

      • Essential sections are included, such as Title Page, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion), and References.
      • Each section is appropriately labeled and structured according to the provided guidelines.

Citations and References:

    • Citations follow the American Medical Association (AMA) citation style are recommended throughout the manuscript.
    • Full bibliographic details, including author names, article title, journal name, publication year, volume, issue, and page numbers, are provided for each citation in the References section.

Figures and Tables:

    • Figures and tables are of high resolution with clear, concise captions.
    • Sequential numbering is applied to figures and tables, and they are appropriately referred to in the main text.

Cover Letter:

    • A detailed cover letter is attached, clearly articulating the significance and originality of the submitted work.
    • Any supplementary information pertinent to the manuscript is included in the cover letter.

Ethical Considerations:

    • Any potential conflicts of interest are explicitly stated.
    • If applicable, information regarding ethical approval for research involving human subjects or animals is provided.

Online Submission:

    • Access to the online submission system is available on the EJIM website. All manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission form. We do not request manuscript submissions via email nor will they be accepted is sent through it. 

Review and Confirmation:

    • Thoroughly review all entered information for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
    • Confirm that the manuscript aligns with the specified guidelines before proceeding with submission.

Copyright and Licensing:

    • Authors are cognizant of and agree to the copyright and licensing terms stipulated in the “Author Guidelines” section.

Ongoing Communication:

    • Make sure corresponding author contact information provided is accurate for effective and ongoing communication.
    • Authors commit to responding promptly to any queries or requests for revision throughout the submission and review process.
